Crafting the Colour Wheel - V

The project for May turned out to be a sort of golden compass or watch. It has a face that hasn't got any pointers, numbers or signs. Yet it is glimmering, and - I'm pretty sure - sometimes also tinkling, just a faint tiny tinkling. I've been wearing it in order to find out what sort of instrument or device it is. I believe it measures time, but not time in the ordinary way. It's more organic, and intuitive in its design. I may be wrong, but I think it really is a device that can tell me when it is time to sit down and enjoy the caress of a breeze on my face, or listen to wind playing in the treetops. Or when it's time (to make time) for being creative, to let imagination flow freely. It's actually quite a lovely device, one of the things I didn't realise I badly needed ...

On a more practical level it's made of natural dyed silk fabric (hazel leaves), vintage embroidery yarn, a smooth pebble from Vesterhavet and a couple of vintage amber pearls.
.......................................
Then staid the fervid wheels, and in his hand
He took the golden compasses, prepared
In God's eternal store, to circumscribe
This universe, and all created things:
One foot he centered, and the other turned
Round through the vast profundity obscure
(John Milton, from Paradise Lost)

  1. Du skaber nogle helt unikke og smukke ting! Og vidunderligt, som du fletter naturen ind i de ting du laver... simpelthen...smukt!!!

  2. An interesting piece. I enjoyed the tale you wove around it.

  3. It's just lovely, and I think it may also whisper to your life's blood as it makes its way through your wrist. A sweet little whisper to "Slow down, be still and know."
    How comforting.

  4. Its beautiful mona. Its pebble time, earth time, where stones mark the days.
