This morning S woke up with ear pains for the first time in his life. All morning he was by turns screaming and sleeping. I only use homeopathic treatment, and luckily I had the proper remedy for this, so in the afternoon he was ready for new adventures.
Slicing rhubarb is a pleasant occupation, especially knowing there will be waffles with whipped cream and stewed rhubarb afterwards.
The yarn was dyed with leaves from rhubarb, a fun and easy beginners project, with no chemicals involved. The color isn't the most exciting, a nice golden beige though.
How to dye yarn with rhubarb leaves:
- Slice some rhubarb leaves - approx. the same weight as the yarn you want to dye, and let simmer in a (enamel or steel) pot with enough water to cover the leaves. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain off the leaves, and immerse the yarn/wool in the dyebath. (The wool yarn should have soaked in water for at least a couple of hours beforehand, so the color will come on evenly). Bring slowly to a simmer and let it simmer for an hour. Let the yarn cool in the dyebath. Wash in lukewarm water with suitable detergent, and put a dash of vinegar in while rinsing. Please feel free to ask if there's any doubt!!

Lovely post! I've never seen rhubarb on waffles. And, I've never tried dyeing with it, either! Thank you for teaching me something new today. :)
